چکیده

The interest in microorganisms to produce microbial lipids at large-scale processes has increased during the last decades. Rhodosporidium toruloides-1588 could be an efficient option for its ability simultaneously utilize five- and six-carbon sugars. Nevertheless, one of most important characteristics that any strain needs considered or used industrial scale is capacity grow substrates with high sugar concentrations. In this study, effect concentrations ammonium sulfate were tested on R. accumulate using undetoxified wood hydrolysates. Batch fermentations showed a catabolic repression growth 120 g/L. maximum lipid accumulation was 8.2 g/L palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic, lignoceric acids as predominant fatty produced lipids. Furthermore, able up 80% total xylose content. Additionally, study first report growth, utilization, by toruloides-1588.

Enhanced lipid production by Rhodosporidium toruloides using different fed-batch feeding strategies with lignocellulosic hydrolysate as the sole carbon source

BACKGROUND Industrial biotechnology that is able to provide environmentally friendly bio-based products has attracted more attention in replacing petroleum-based industries. Currently, most of the carbon sources used for fermentation-based bioprocesses are obtained from agricultural commodities that are used as foodstuff for human beings. Lignocellulose-derived sugars as the non-food, green, an...

Isolation of oleaginous yeast (Rhodosporidium toruloides) mutants tolerant of sugarcane bagasse hydrolysate.

Rhodosporidium toruloides is a lipid-producing yeast, the growth of which is severely suppressed when hydrolysates of lignocellulosic biomass are used as carbon source. This is probably due to the toxic substances, such as organic acids, furans, and phenolic compounds produced during the preparation of the hydrolysates. In order to solve this problem, R. toruloides cultures were subjected to at...

Purification and characterization of a cephalosporin esterase from Rhodosporidium toruloides.

A novel cephalosporin esterase (EC 3.1.1.41) from Rhodosporidium toruloides was purified to gel electrophoretic homogeneity. The enzyme is a glycoprotein with a molecular mass of 80 kDa. Upon deglycosylation, several forms of the enzyme were observed with a molecular mass range between 60 and 66 kDa. The isoelectric point of the enzyme is approximately 5.6, with the pH optimum for activity occu...

The Production, Regulation and Extraction of Carotenoids from Rhodosporidium toruloides

Carotenoids are valuable pigments of commercial interest for various health benefits. There is rising demand for natural carotenoids from microorganisms, although the majority of industrially produced carotenoids are currently chemically synthesized. Rhodosporidium toruloides is oleaginous red yeast, which can produce large amounts of carotenoids and lipids simultaneously. It is also able to as...

High-density cultivation of oleaginous yeast Rhodosporidium toruloides Y4 in fed-batch culture

Microbial lipid production by the oleaginous yeast Rhorosporidium toruloides Y4 was studied using glucose as carbon source, in order to realize igh-density cell culture. Batch cultures demonstrated that there was little inhibitory effect with a substrate concentration of up to 150 g l−1. Flask ed-batch cultures were run for 25 days and reached a dry biomass and cellular lipid content of 151.5 g...
